Push Present Ideas: Jewelry Gifts for a New Mom
• 6 min read
![]()
The best push presents are pieces she can wear comfortably while holding a newborn: small stud earrings, a pendant on a short chain, or a bracelet that marks the family. Hold off on rings for now. Fingers often swell in late pregnancy and can take weeks or months to settle, so her old ring size may not be her size this year.
Prices below are in US dollars as of 5 November 2026. Shipping is free worldwide.
What makes a good push present
- Practical with a baby. Babies grab. Hoops, drop earrings and long chains get pulled. Studs and pendants that sit close to the collarbone are much easier.
- Comfortable for feeding and carrying. Nothing with sharp edges or a bulky setting that catches on clothes and blankets.
- No sizing. Rings are a gamble right now, and our returns policy doesn't accept returns or exchanges for incorrect sizing.
- Meaningful. A design she can link to this moment: three stones for a family of three, hearts, or a piece she'll one day pass on.
Push present ideas by type
Stud earrings: the most practical choice
Studs sit flat and are out of reach of small hands.
- Radiance Stud Earrings: $69.99 (0.1 ct), $79.99 (0.3 ct), $109.99 (0.5 ct), $129.99 (1 ct). Round, classic, and easy to wear every day.
- Aurum Heart Studs: from $168.99. Heart-cut, a little more romantic.
One honest note: earrings can't be returned for hygiene reasons, so choose a style she'd wear anyway. Our stud earrings size guide helps you pick a size; 0.3 to 0.5 carat is the everyday range.
A pendant on a short chain
A single pendant near the collarbone stays out of the way while she's feeding.
- Solitaire Icon Necklace: $149.99 to $199.99. A single round stone, for a timeless keepsake.
- Timeless Round-Cut Necklace: $149.99 to $199.99.
- Floré Magen Pendant: $189.99. A floral setting with a small butterfly; magen means shield or protection in Hebrew.
- Lucky Love Clover Necklace: $133.99. A clover that opens into four hearts, sweet for a family of four.
Our post on how to layer necklaces explains what each chain length looks like, if you're choosing a length.
A bracelet that marks the family
- The Luxora Heart Trilogy Bracelet: $469.99. Three heart-cut stones, often read as past, present and future. It's also a lovely way to represent a family of three.
- Timeless Tennis Bracelet: from $239.99. A classic she can wear daily. Measure a bracelet she already wears for the length.
Wrists can change a little during pregnancy too. If you're unsure, choose the adjustable bracelet in the Radiant Elegance Necklace & Bracelet set ($399.99), where both pieces adjust.
What about an eternity ring?
An eternity band is a traditional push present, and a beautiful one. If you'd like to give one, consider waiting a few months until her ring size has settled, or give a necklace now and the ring at the first birthday or your next anniversary. Full eternity bands are generally hard to resize. Our eternity band guide explains the options.
When to give it
There's no rule. Some partners give a push present at the hospital, some at home in the first weeks, and some on the first Mother's Day. If you're ordering ahead of a due date, remember that our pieces are finished to order in up to 7 business days, and delivery then usually takes 7 to 14 business days. Allow four to five weeks, and order well before the due date, since babies keep their own schedule.
Mother's Day and other moms
The same ideas work for Mother's Day, or for your own mum or grandmother: studs, a pendant or a three-stone bracelet. For Mother's Day in the US (9 May 2027), order by about 8 April to be safe. For a Christmas gift for her, see our Christmas jewelry gifts for her.
Care tips for a busy new mom
- Take jewelry off for baths, hand-washing marathons and lotion, which dull plated metal faster.
- Store each piece separately so stones don't scratch other jewelry.
- A soft cloth and mild soapy water bring moissanite back to full sparkle. Our cleaning guide has the details.

Frequently asked questions
What is a push present?+
A push present is a gift from a partner to the mother to mark the birth of a baby. There's no fixed rule about what it should be or when it's given; some people give it at the hospital, others in the first weeks at home.
Should a push present be a ring?+
Often not straight away. Fingers can swell in late pregnancy and take a while to settle after birth, so a ring bought in her pre-pregnancy size may not fit for a while. A necklace, studs or a bracelet avoids the problem, and our returns policy doesn't accept returns for incorrect sizing.
What jewelry is practical with a newborn?+
Small studs and short, close-fitting necklaces. Babies grab hoops, dangling earrings and long chains, so flat studs and a pendant on a chain that sits near the collarbone are easier to wear while feeding and carrying.
How much should a push present cost?+
Whatever suits your budget. There's no expected amount. In our shop, meaningful pieces run from studs under $100 to bracelets and sets around $400 to $500.
